St. Patrick’s Day can become a special family occasion—a time to remember the life of an exemplary man. Why not have a special dinner in honor of the day? Look for something green to decorate your table. Place three green or white candles in the middle of the table. This is in honor of the Trinity, the object of St. Patrick’s and our love and worship. In his second letter, St. Patrick wrote: “This we proclaim. We worship one God in three parts, by the sacred name of Trinity.”
If you want to have a little Irish fun during your dinner, say “ya” (rhymes with “duh”) instead of “you” and “me” instead of “my.” For green menu suggestions, click here.
You might want to begin your dinner by singing “The Doxology” (Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow) together. You may want to sing along with the video below at the table. The instruments will play it through once. Then you can sing along as it is sung through twice. After that there will be about a 10-second pause. Then the instruments will play it through three times before the video ends. The playing of the instruments after the singing is over would provide a good time to say a little prayer and begin the festivities.
