Here’s a dessert that might be lots of fun to serve if you’re having an Easter gathering, or to bring to an Easter potluck if you’ve been assigned to provide dessert. If you transport it, you will, of course, need to keep it chilled on the way. It’s colorful and combines sweetness, richness, and vibrant fruit flavors. The layers consist of an orange-cream cheese layer, cake cubes, whipped cream, more cake cubes, a strawberry-cream cheese layer, another layer of cake cubes, another layer of whipped cream, topped with colorful Easter candy.

I asked a couple of friends to come over and taste the sample with us. I had chosen to use almond extract in the whipped cream– one of three choices I recommended. I think it was a good choice. We all had seconds, so I think it’s something that will please most everyone. It takes a little time to prepare, but it’s fun to see it come together. Most of the preparation is done in advance, so it shouldn’t take a lot of time to finish the job on the day you want to serve it. If you are considering serving it, I would recommend that you read the recipe ahead of time so that you have an overview of how it is prepared. I estimate it will serve 10 to 12 guests.
