Towels look so pretty when they’re new and their color looks just like it did when you saw them in the store. It’s disappointing if their color begins to fade after a few washings. If you want to help your towels retain their original color longer, there is a simple process you can follow, using water, salt, and white vinegar to soak them. You could also use this process for garments that may lose their color. Garment labels sometimes warn that the color may bleed.
I read somewhere that fabric softener sheets can cause a waxy build-up on your towels. At a Christmas gift swap a couple of years ago, I received some wool balls that look kind of like tennis balls, for fluffing dryer loads. You may have seen some. I use them instead of fabric softener dryer sheets sometimes, and I think I will try to be sure to use them for my new green towels.
