New York Times bestselling author Eric Metaxas has proven that his writing talents extend to a variety of styles. Squanto and the Miracle of Thanksgiving is a great book to share with the children in your life. This book is a well written and nicely illustrated telling of the story. It’s the story of how God in His sovereignty prepared a Native American named Squanto to help the struggling Pilgrims and at the same time used the Pilgrims to fill a void in Squanto’s life. The introductory page sums it up perfectly: “Every once in a great while, the hand of God is easy to see, and for a brief moment, fairy tales and history are the same thing. This story is about one of those times.”

In my estimation, this book would be appropriate for ages 6 through 10. The younger ones in that category, probably up through age 8, would need to have it read to them. The older ones may prefer to read it themselves. It takes only about 15 minutes to read it at normal speed. You may want to send it to grandkids, nieces and nephews, or other kids special to you who live far away.
