A powerful DVD entitled MONUMENTAL—In Search of America’s National Treasure was released in 2012. Actor and activist Kirk Cameron, who gained fame early in life in the sitcom “Growing Pains,” begins with realistic observations of the depressing condition of our nation today. He states that many are assuming the condition of our nation is an inevitable part of the end times and therefore are doing nothing to try to change the direction of our nation. He suggests that perhaps what we need to do is to go back and see the beginnings of our nation when the Pilgrims left an abominable situation in England and established our great nation, with the help of God.

​Kirk travelled to England and Holland to follow the Pilgrims’ escape route and find out more about who they were. It was an eye-opening investigation that brought to life the devastating situation the Pilgrims faced and the giant obstacles they had to overcome, with God’s help, in order to survive the persecution rampant throughout Europe and find a new life of freedom.

Then Kirk returned to America, to Plymouth, where the Pilgrims planted the seeds of our nation. Half of the Pilgrims died during their first winter there. The godliness of the Pilgrims was manifested by the fact that, although previous white men had abused the Native Americans for the sake of greed, the Pilgrims treated them as equals. One of the awesome revelations in the presentation is a little-known massive monument overlooking Plymouth. Its structure and figures display the keys to the success of our nation.

In order to determine whether the bedrock faith of the Pilgrims carried through to the time when the “founding fathers” established our Constitution and constructed our government, Kirk consulted American history expert David Barton. Barton explains how godless history revisionists have deliberately distorted our history to bury proof of our Christian foundations.

Before concluding the presentation, Kirk visited a well-known university, where evidence of our Christian heritage can be seen. He reminded us that we must have righteousness as the foundation for our democratic republic. After all, Hitler was elected in a democratic election. Kirk ended the discussion by challenging us to join him in electing righteous leaders for our nation. I believe that watching this presentation will leave a deep impact on your heart and mind.
