Would you like to play something really different—maybe even a little wacky—on Father’s Day? This game uses a baseball bat, a ping-pong ball, some household items, a small box, and a quarter.Only one player at a time plays. Each player must place the ball on the quarter to “tee off” (gently, keeping the bat low to the ground), then keep tapping the ball to guide it between each successive “goal” formed by pairs of household items, and then through the holes in a small box that signals the end of the course. Whoever makes it to the end of the course in the shortest amount of time is the winner. It may be played indoors or outdoors. You can make the course as long or short as you wish.

In order to make it interesting, the goals should be staggered, rather than in a straight line. In the event of a tie, you could have a play-off.

Rules:
(1) If the ball passes a “goal” without going between the objects, the player must hit the ball back and guide it between the objects.

(2) If the ball goes into an unplayable space, the player must place it in a playable space even with where it was and then continue. The time to get the ball and place it in a playable space is deducted from the time to finish the course. (The stopwatch person must be alert.)

(3) Players must only tap the ball rather than keeping the bat on the ball to guide it. “Traveling” is a penalty of 5 seconds added to the time in which the course was completed.

(4) Little ones 3 or under may have a helper.

Here’s what you’ll need:
Ping-pong ball (and a spare or two)
Wood, metal, or plastic baseball bat (plastic bats sometimes available at dollar stores)
Quarter
Pairs of household items for “goals” (bread pans, mixing bowls, etc.)
Small box with holes cut through for end of the course(a boutique tissue box works well)
Masking tape to secure small box in place on floor indoors
OR
Plastic knives to secure small box in place on lawn outdoors
Yardstick to retrieve ball from difficult places
