Maybe you know someone who is a shut-in at a nursing home or assisted living or maybe just lives alone and is unable to put up a tree. Why not mail them a surprise you made yourself to let them know you’re thinking of them and wish to brighten their Christmas? This little paper tree can be folded flat.
A pattern and instructions to make this tree are provided. An enclosure that includes both a short poem about the tree and the portion of the Christmas story given in Luke 2:1-20 also is provided. (I used the King James Version for the Scripture passage. There is no copyright permission required for the King James Version, and the wording may be comfortingly familiar to many elderly people.)
If you don’t have access to a printer, you could make your own tree pattern. Fold an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper in half the long way and draw the outline of half a tree. (Look at the pattern provided to see how the base is formed.) Cut it out while folded, and you’ll have a symmetrical tree pattern. Then follow the instructions you can click on below. You could make your own enclosure by copying the little poem or writing your own message on an 8-1/2 x 11 paper . (That size paper won’t be overlooked in the envelope.)
